Bet you can't guess...

...what Jack is doing in these pictures :-)
One day these will probably be pretty embarassing...

but his faces are just so darn funny!

I mean, really!

How could I resist???

Ok, I guess I'd probably cry if my picture were being taken, too!

Keeping Busy

One of Jack's favorite activities these days is pulling all of the lids out of my kitchen drawer, just like his sister at that age.

And speaking of his sister, here's Little Miss Sunshine, in her bathing suit of course.  Never mind that it's close to freezing and snowing outside.  It's warm inside and that's all that matters!

Easter Countdown

This Easter season, I have tried to keep the emphasis off of the commercialism of the holiday and on the real meaning of why we celebrate Easter.  Don't get me wrong.  We still do plenty with Easter eggs and the Easter bunny, but I didn't want that to overshadow our celebration of Christ's resurrection.  When I came across this Easter Story Countdown out in blogland, I was so excited and knew that I had to give it a try.

I filled all of the eggs yesterday during naptime.  When Hannah got up, she was SO excited to see Easter eggs on the table!  It took some explaining to get her to buy into only opening one egg each night at dinner.  We did let her open egg #1 a little early since she was so excited.  She's done a great job so far of not attempting to open any more of the eggs.  Even though this may still be a bit over her head for her age, I'm looking forward to the anticipation of opening a new egg each night and making the Easter story a bit more tangible.

Desparate for Summer

We've been so desparate for summer around here, that one day last week Hannah took her beach towel and soaked up some sun on our deck.  I must admit, I did the same thing, and it felt wonderful!!

Little Man

Our little guy is getting so big and into SO much lately.  Here's a glimpse...

Woody Boaters

Last weekend, the kids went to Jason's parents' house, which gave us some much needed grown-up time.  Jason has literally been driving past the Reeds Lake boat launch for weeks, checking to see if the docks were yet in.  His wish finally came true early last week, so with the kids gone and nice weather, we took the boat out for the first ride of the season.
The water was like glass, the temperature was perfect, and the boat ran great.  Can't ask for much more than that!

One happy woody boater!

After our ride, we packed up, dropped the boat off at home, and headed to Snug Harbor in Grand Haven for dinner and then dessert!  MEGA dessert!  6 layers of chocolate cake dessert!  Chocolate Heaven!  Oh.my.goodness.  The perfect ending for the night - perfection!

37 Months Old

Hannah is now 37 months old.  Here's the latest:

*She is very much into her dolls.  She carries them all over the house, wraps them up in blankets, puts them to sleep, sings to them, and tells them stories.

*She has conversations with "grandma" on the phone regularly.  A common one-sided conversation typically goes something like "Uh huh.  Yeah.  I love you very much.  Bye."

*She loves to sort.  The magnetic letters on our fridge are always grouped together by color.  A couple of weeks ago in church she had a box of crayons, in which she had very little interest in coloring, but she picked out all of the blue ones for Jason, pink ones for her, and red ones for me (Jack would have gotten green, but he was in the nursery).

*She LOVES her sandbox.  I'm hoping that she'll be spending lots of time in it this summer.

*She likes to say grace at dinner every night.  Typically, she folds her hands, bows her head (and makes sure that we're doing the same) and says something about about her friends.  Amen!

*She is a big helper around the house.  Some things she helps with include unloading the dishwasher, loading and unloading clothes into the washer and dryer, putting both her own and Jack's clothes away, making her bed, and feeding JJ.

*She continues to love to sing.  We regularly hear a Sound of Music medley, the ABC song, Jesus loves me, and many others.

*She went on her first boat ride of the season with Jason a couple of nights ago.  I don't know who was more excited to go.  They were both very happy when they returned.

*She is in the process of giving up her afternoon naps, which makes me very sad.

*She would wear her bathing suit every day if we let her.
